ASHI Basic First Aid helps students develop basic first aid knowledge, skills, and the confidence to respond. It is an excellent choice for both the community and the workplace.
Who it is for
- Individuals who are not healthcare providers or professional rescuers but want or are required to be certified in basic emergency care
- Employees whose workplace requires first aid certification
What you will learn
- Recognizing an emergency, personal safety, and standard precautions
- Consent, Good Samaritan laws, and emergency action plans
- Control of bleeding, tourniquets, and hemostatic dressings
- Shock, spinal and brain injury, concussion, and splinting
- Burns: thermal, electrical, and chemical
- Choking and compression-only CPR
- Fainting, stroke, low blood sugar, seizure, breathing difficulty, and asthma
- Severe allergic reactions and using an epinephrine auto-injector
Class format
- Hands-on skills practice
- Maximum 10 students per instructor
- Every student must perform required skills competently without assistance
- Combination CPR, AED and First Aid class is about 4 to 5 hours (initial)
After the class
- Certification is recognized for up to 2 years
- Renewal training takes less time than the initial class
